DSWM is excited about the upcoming possibility of working with residents at a local memory care facility in 2018. Memory loss and dementia can be devastating for individuals as well as their families. Narrative therapeutic approaches offer a positive way for those suffering to connect to past memories. The Life Story Project allows a facilitator to work with individuals once a week in a communal setting to help them narrate the story of their life. This narrative approach is augmented by mementos (e.g., photos, cards) that are used by the facilitator for the purpose of bringing forth significant memories. Significant memories are artistically displayed and bound into a Life Story Book.
